DISCUSSION:
The Board of Supervisors would like to acknowledge and commend two outstanding educators from Fortuna Union High School who were recently recognized by the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) and the North Coast Section (NCS) for their exemplary service and dedication to students, athletics and the broader educational community.
Head Football Coach Mike Benbow was selected as the recipient of the CIF Model Coach Award. This honor is given to coaches who demonstrate the highest levels of leadership, sportsmanship and mentorship, both on and off the field. Coach Benbow's long-standing commitment to student-athletes and his positive influence within the school community are a credit to Fortuna Union High School and the greater region.
Additionally, Clint Duey, Superintendent of the Fortuna Union High School District, has been awarded the Phil Hempler Distinguished Service Award by the NCS. This prestigious award recognizes individuals who have demonstrated exceptional service, ethical conduct and moral character in support of high school athletics and education.
These accolades not only reflect the personal integrity and dedication of Benbow and Duey but also highlight the strength of leadership and community values upheld within the Fortuna Union High School District.
