DISCUSSION:
Concerned for the safety and wellbeing of the students at McKinleyville High School and complaints from concerned McKinleyville residents, 5th District Supervisor Madrone and former 5th District Supervisor Sundberg wrote to ABC requesting they not approve Dollar General’s liquor license application, expressing concerns for student safety and constituent concerns near the location. However, ABC chose to move forward and approved the conditioned liquor license application.
ABC’s decision is now being appealed and a hearing has been scheduled on November 6, 2019 to consider rescinding approval of the liquor license.
The Board of Supervisors is in full support of rescinding this liquor license and is sending a letter to ABC requesting the license be revoked as it is in the best interest of public safety.
