DISCUSSION:

October 2026 is recognized as National Long-Term Care Residents’ Rights Month, an opportunity to raise awareness of the rights, dignity and quality of life of individuals residing in nursing homes, assisted living facilities and other long-term care settings. This year's theme, “Join Us at the Table,” emphasizes the importance of dignity, choice and community in residents’ daily lives, particularly during mealtimes.

Locally, the Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program of Humboldt & Del Norte Counties plays a vital role in advocating for residents and ensuring their voices are heard and their rights respected. With this proclamation, the Board of Supervisors recognizes October 2026 as Long-Term Care Residents’ Rights Month in Humboldt County and acknowledges the important contributions of the Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program to residents throughout Humboldt County.
