RECOMMENDATION(S):
Recommendation
That the Board of Supervisors:
1. Approve acceptance of award with the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) for $800,324 for the term of July 1, 2024, through June 30, 2028;
2. Authorize the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) - Public Health Director, or designee thereof, to sign the Acceptance of Award document; and
3. Authorize the Director of Public Health, or a designee thereof, to execute all future contracts, amendments, and documents directly related to the award upon review and approval of the County Administrative Office, County Counsel, and Risk Management.

DISCUSSION:
The County of Humboldt is continuing its work with CDPH to provide public health activities related to monitoring, prevention, testing, and linkage to and retention in care activities for the most vulnerable and underserved individuals living with, or at high risk for, hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection in collaboration with a community-based organization (CBO).

Allocated funds are to be used to implement a public education and outreach program to raise hepatitis C awareness in high-risk groups, physician's offices, among healthcare workers, and in healthcare facilities by including hepatitis C counseling, education, and testing, as appropriate, into existing local state-funded programs including those addressing HIV, sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), and other appropriate programs.
