RECOMMENDATION(S):
Recommendation
That the Board of Supervisors:
1. Accept the donation of a $1,000 Presentation Honorarium; and
2. Direct the Auditor Controller to deposit the donation of $1,000 Presentation Honorarium into the Department of Health and Human Services - Public Health Fund (1175), Budget Unit (452).

DISCUSSION:
In June 2025, the Department of Health and Human Services - Public Health Branch, (DHHS - PHB), Substance Use Prevention (SUP) staff began working with The Clinton Foundation (TCF). One of TCF's recent initiatives has been in overdose prevention with a focus on naloxone distribution and education. As of today, the organization has distributed over 998,000 doses of naloxone through their Overdose Response Network.

DHHS - PHB, SUP became involved with TCF when the Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) recommended the County of Humboldt as TCF's first rural California county to partner with because of DHHS - PHB, SUP's leadership in rural overdose prevention work. The project that DHHS - PHB, SUP is assisting with is specifically aimed at engaging faith leaders in overdose prevention work through meetings and trainings from June 2025 through June 2026.

On March 12, 2026, DHHS - PHB SUP staff presented at the Empowering Faith Leaders training series with 24 County of Humboldt faith leaders as a part of TCF's work in this area. In recognition of DHHS - PHB, SUP's work at that event, the team lead, Katie Jo Slaughter, wa...
