DISCUSSION:
CalREDIE is a web-based, secure, disease reporting and surveillance system implemented by CDPH. The DHHS-Public Health Laboratory and Communicable Disease (CD) programs currently use CalREDIE to report cases of communicable disease to CDPH. Health care providers and laboratories can report cases of communicable diseases to their local public health departments and to CDPH through CalREDIE twenty-four hours a day. This allows local health departments and CDPH to have access to disease and laboratory reports in near real-time for disease surveillance, public health investigation and case management activities.
Before your Board today is a renewal of the CalREDIE Data Use and Disclosure Agreement. This agreement is required by CDPH in order to protect all personal and confidential information, and provide security for protected data in compliance with all state and federal laws applicable to protected data. DHHS - Public Health has been using CalREDIE since 2011. The term for the CalREDIE Data Use and Disclosure Agreement shall remain in effect for three (3) years after the latest signature that appears on the agreement.
