RECOMMENDATION(S):
Recommendation
That the Board of Supervisors:
1. Approve, and authorize the Chair of the Board to execute, the attached second amendment to the lease agreement with the Humboldt County Fair Association regarding the operation, management and maintenance of the Humboldt County Fair and Fairgrounds (4/5 Vote Required); and
2. Direct the Clerk of the Board to return one (1) fully executed original copy of the attached second amendment to the Real Property Division of the Humboldt County Department of Public Works for further processing.

DISCUSSION:
Since 1926, the Humboldt County Fair Association has been leasing and operating the Humboldt County Fairgrounds under various agreements with the County of Humboldt. On Jul. 1, 2020, the county and the Humboldt County Fair Association entered into the current lease agreement regarding the operation, management and maintenance of the Humboldt County Fair and Fairgrounds. This lease agreement was extended for a one-year term and will terminate on Jun. 30, 2026.
The Humboldt County Fair Association and the county have agreed to a six-month extension to provide additional time for both parties to engage in discussions regarding potential revisions and updates to enter into a new lease agreement. Pursuant to Government Code Section 25536, The Board of Supervisors, by a 4/5 vote, may enter a lease of property owned by the County of Humboldt without competitive bidding.
