RECOMMENDATION(S):
Recommendation
That the Board of Supervisors:
1. Approve, and authorize the Department of Health and Human Services - Social Services Deputy Director, or a designee thereof, to execute the attached memorandum of understanding with the National Insurance Crime Bureau regarding the exchange of information and data for purposes of detecting and preventing insurance-related crime and fraud in Humboldt County;
2. Authorize, the Department of Health and Human Services - Social Services Deputy Director, or a designee thereof, to execute any and all subsequent amendments to the attached memorandum of understanding with the National Insurance Crime Bureau, after review and approval by County Counsel, Risk Management and the County Administrative Office; and
3. Direct the Clerk of the Board to provide the Department of Health and Services - Contracts unit with one fully executed, certified copy of the Board order related to this item.

DISCUSSION:
The National Insurance Crime Bureau is a nonprofit corporation dedicated to gathering and disseminating information related to insurance-related crime and fraud for the benefit of law enforcement agencies, regulatory authorities and the general public. In furtherance of this goal, the National Insurance Crime Bureau provides law enforcement agencies and their personnel access to the ISO ClaimSearch database for purposes of detecting and preventing insurance-related crime and fraud.
