RECOMMENDATION(S):
Recommendation
That the Board of Supervisors:
1. Approve the attached plans and specifications for the McCann Bridge (04C-0172) Preventive Maintenance and McCann Road (6D090) Post Mile 1.25 Storm Damage Repair Project; and
2. Direct the Clerk of the Board to advertise the above-mentioned project as required by Section 22037 of the California Public Contract Code, with bids to be opened on Tuesday, July 28, 2020, at 2:00 p.m.

DISCUSSION:
The McCann Bridge (04C-0172) Preventive Maintenance and McCann Road (6D090) Post Mile 1.25 Storm Damage Repair Project is located along the main stem of the Eel River approximately six (6) miles east of Highway 101 off Dyerville Loop Road.

The community of McCann uses the low-level McCann Bridge (04C-0172) to access rural properties and residences during times of low flow for about six (6) to nine (9) months of the year. A ferry operated by the County of Humboldt is used for access when the Eel River rises above the McCann Bridge (04C-0172). The proposed preventive maintenance of the McCann Bridge (04C-0172) includes repairing damaged concrete curbing, wingwalls and spalled concrete on the deck and soffit of the bridge, as identified by the California Department of Transportation's Bridge Inspection Reports, in order to ensure that the public may continue to safely cross the Eel River during times of low flow.
