DISCUSSION:

The Humboldt County Board of Supervisors supports The Wildlands Conservancy’s acquisition of Eel Rock Ranch, a 1,350-acre property along the Wild and Scenic Eel River, near Myers Flat in Humboldt County.

The project advances the county’s priorities of conservation, climate resilience, sustainable recreation and economic vitality. The acquisition would protect critical riparian and anadromous fish habitat, safeguard culturally significant sites for the Bear River Band of the Rohnerville Rancheria, the Round Valley Indian Tribes and Wailaki communities, and provide managed public access, including potential integration with the planned Great Redwood Trail.

Approval of the attached letter affirms the Board’s support for this important conservation effort and associated funding opportunities.
