RECOMMENDATION(S):
Recommendation
That the Board of Supervisors:
1. Approve the pending State Standard Agreement #22-11235 with the California Department of Public Health for Public Health Microbiologist training and related travel funds;
2. Authorize the Director of Public Health, or a designee thereof, to sign the State Standard Agreement;
3. Authorize the Director of Public Health, or a designee thereof, to sign the Contractor Certification Clauses included in Exhibit C - General Terms and Conditions; and
4. Authorize the Director of Public Health, or a designee thereof, to sign all future amendments and documents directly related to the State Standard Agreement upon review and approval of County Counsel and Risk Management.

DISCUSSION:
The California Department of Public Health (CDPH), Center for Laboratory Sciences (CLS)
announced the intent to award local assistance funds to the Humboldt County Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) - Public Health Laboratory for Microbiologist (PHM) training activities. In recognition of ongoing Public Health Laboratory (PHL) personnel shortages and need to increase training programs, the Budget Act of 2022 (AB 178, Section 143, Item 4265-111-0001, Provision 17) appropriated funds to local agencies to increase the number of Public Health Microbiologist (PHM) Trainees in California.
