RECOMMENDATION(S):
Recommendation
That the Board of Supervisors:
1. Ratify the Director of Public Works to sign Contract Change Order Number 1-S1 for the total amount of $1,930.50;
2. Ratify the Director of Public Works to sign Contract Change Order Number 2 for the total amount of $2,000.00;
3. Accept the completed contract, including all change orders approved by the Public Works Department, between GR Sundberg, Inc., and Humboldt County for construction of Pedestrian Safety Crossing Project; and
4. Approve the final claim for payment, as submitted by the Public Works Department to the Auditor/Controller, in the amount of $4,720.50, which will bring the total amount paid to 100% of the contract.

DISCUSSION:
The Pedestrian Safety Crossing Project installed crosswalk signs with light-emitting diodes and rectangular rapid flashing beacons at the following three locations in the greater Eureka area: Harrison Avenue at Roane Avenue (Ramone's Bakery), Harris Street at Redwood Acres Fairgrounds, and Myrtle Avenue at Pennsylvania Avenue (Healthsport). The push button-actuated lights warn motorists that pedestrians are entering the crosswalk. Existing curb ramps were retrofitted to meet current Americans with Disabilities Act requirements.

On Feb. 26, 2019, the Board of Supervisors authorized the Clerk of the Board to advertise the Pedestrian Safety Crossing Project for bids.
