RECOMMENDATION(S):
Recommendation
That the Board of Supervisors:
1. Approve the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Humboldt County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) and Health Management Associates (HMA) (Attachment #1); and
2. Authorize the Chair of the Board, Sheriff, Correctional Captain and/or Deputy Director of Financial and Support Services to execute all necessary contracts, MOU, agreements, and amendments thereto, in the name of the County of Humboldt, with prior review and approval by the County Administrative Office, County Counsel, and Risk Management; and
3. Authorize the Chair of the Board, Sheriff, Correctional Captain and/or Deputy Director of Financial and Support Services to execute all other certifications, assurances, or documents required by Health Management Associates (HMA), such authorization shall be retroactive to Aug. 1, 2024, to facilitate documents that need to be signed timely for this grant.

DISCUSSION:
The State Opioid Funding Program: Medicated-Assisted Treatment (MAT) in Jails and Drug Courts Implementation program provides small implementation grants to correctional agencies to support the expansion of MAT programs within a correctional facility and to help improve processes related to continuity of care as incarcerated individuals re-enter the community.
