Recommendation
That the Board of Supervisors:
1. Review the attached application from Mathew Ziesak representing Local Labor Union 290; and
2. Appoint Mathew Ziesak to the Humboldt County Workforce Development Board for a two-year term, effective immediately pursuant to Humboldt County Workforce Development Board Bylaws.

DISCUSSION:
The Humboldt County Workforce Development Board is an advisory board to the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors. The Humboldt County Workforce Development Board is required, in accordance with the Workforce Investment Opportunity Act (WIOA), to oversee Humboldt County's workforce system and funding opportunities. Additionally, the workforce development board offers resources that meet employer and employee needs for the county's continued prosperity.
Under WIOA, the Humboldt County Workforce Development Board must be comprised of members representing public agencies, labor unions, private sector businesses and community-based organizations providing workforce services and vocational rehabilitation.
WIOA requires that certain public agencies and labor organizations appoint members to the Humboldt County Workforce Development Board. As such, on Aug. 29, 2025, the Humboldt County Workforce Development Board unanimously approved Mathew Ziesak's application to serve on this board. Ziesak represents Local Labor Union 290.
The proposed appointment is consistent with the Humboldt County Workforce Development Board bylaws, and the appointment of Ziesak, representing Local Labor Union 290, is a required seat on the Humbold...
