RECOMMENDATION(S):
Recommendation
That the Board of Supervisors:
1. Authorize the Chair to sign Resolution No. ______, the Governing Body Resolution (Attachment 1) for the EMPG, HSGP, and EMPG-ARPA and direct the Clerk of the Board to certify; and
2. Direct the Clerk of the Board to return three (3) signed and certified copies, of the above-named resolution, to the Sheriff's Office, Attn: Tammi Gilbert, for immediate submission to the California Governor's Office of Emergency Services.

DISCUSSION:
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security, through the State of California Governor's Office of
Emergency Services (CalOES), provides funding assistance to counties to support
comprehensive emergency management activities at the local level.

The Sheriff's Department receives the EMPG award every year which provides support to continue the county's local emergency and disaster preparedness, planning, response and mitigation activities. The County of Humboldt receives the HSGP award every year which provides funding for equipment and training to law enforcement, fire service, public health, and emergency management agencies in the Humboldt Operational Area. The EMPG-ARPA is a one-time grant award for grant fiscal year 2021 to help with emergency preparedness infrastructure and resiliency.

The governing body resolution (attachment 1) is needed to complete the application for financial assistance through the EMPG, HSGP, and EMPG-ARPA programs.
