RECOMMENDATION(S):
Recommendation
That the Board of Supervisors:
1. Adopt the attached resolution to implement the Building Forward Library Infrastructure grant for the Arcata Library;
2. Ratify the Auditor/Controller signature and authorize the Auditor/Controller to sign the letter verifying availability of Library match funds for the project; and
3. Return to the Humboldt County Library three executed copies of the resolution and the verification of match funds letter from Auditor/Controller.

DISCUSSION:
The City of Arcata received $225,833 in Building Forward grant funds for life safety and critical infrastructure improvements for the Arcata Library. The City of Arcata is providing $12,917 in matching funds. The Library is asking your Board to authorize the Auditor/Controller to sign a letter verifying the availability of $100,000 in match funds from the Library Fund (1500) for this project.
For the last 38 years, the City of Arcata and Humboldt County Library have provided the Arcata community with an inviting center for literacy, learning and connection.
With a goal towards increasing life safety and access to the library, the City of Arcata (City) and County of Humboldt completed an Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Access Compliance Assessment between 2017 and 2020. The proposed construction alterations at the Arcata Branch of the Humboldt County Library will primarily involve ADA upgrades and deferred maintenance repairs to the facility.
