Recommendation
That the Board of Supervisors:
1. Approve, authorize the Chair of the Board to execute, the attached third amendment to the lease agreement with the McKinleyville Community Services District regarding the use of the real property located at 1606 Pickett Road, McKinleyville, California for the period of May 24, 2016 through May 31, 2024; and
2. Direct the Clerk of the Board to return one (1) fully executed copy of the attached third amendment to attached lease agreement with the McKinleyville Community Services District to the Department of Public Works - Real Property Division for further processing.

DISCUSSION:
On May 24, 2016, the County of Humboldt entered into a lease agreement with the McKinleyville Community Services District regarding the use of the real property located at 1606 Pickett Road, McKinleyville, California as a public library. The lease agreement with MCSD was subsequently amended on February 23, 2021 and February 15, 2022 in order to extend the term thereof and modify the execution requirements set forth therein.
The attached third amendment to the lease agreement with the McKinleyville Community Services District will extend the term thereof to May 31, 2024. The one (1) year extension will allow time to ensure that the property is in compliance with any and all American with Disability Act accessibility requirements.
Accordingly, staff recommends that the Board approve, and authorize the Chair of the Board to execute, the attached third amendment to the lease agreement with the McKinleyville Community Services District regarding the use of the real property located at 1606 Pickett Road, McKinleyville, California for the period of May 24, 2016 through May 31, 2024.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
There are no direct costs associated with approval of the attached third amendment to the lease agreement with the McKinleyville Community Services District. As a result, approval of the attached third amendment to the lease agreement with the McKinleyville Community Services District will not impact the Humboldt County General Fund.
STAFFING IMPACT:
The attached third amendment to the lease agreement with the McKinleyville Community Services District will not impact current staffing levels.
STRATEGIC FRAMEWORK:
The recommended actions support the Board of Supervisors’ Strategic Framework by providing for and maintaining infrastructure.

ALTERNATIVES TO STAFF RECOMMENDATIONS:
The Board may choose not to approve the attached third amendment to the lease agreement with the McKinleyville Community Services District regarding the use of the real property located at 1606 Pickett Road, McKinleyville, California for the period of May 24, 2016 through May 31, 2024. However, this alternative is not recommended as it would cause the lease agreement with the McKinleyville Community Services District to go into a month to month tenancy holdover period after May 31, 2023.
