Body

STRATEGIC PLAN:

This action supports the following areas of your Board’s Strategic Plan.

Area of Focus:  Workforce & Operational Excellence

Strategic Plan Category:  3002 - Invest in county facilities

DISCUSSION:

Verizon Wireless (Verizon) currently has a lease agreement with the county at the Humboldt County Courthouse for wireless use of tower #2 on the courthouse roof. Verizon will be relocating the equipment by the end of their lease on July 28, 2024. Verizon and Public Works performed a site walkthrough of the equipment and determined that some of the equipment Verizon currently has can be left for future vendors to use at tower site. The estimated value of the equipment is $15,000. Public Works has reviewed the equipment and confirmed this will benefit the county and will be an improvement to future operations to lease the space after Verizon has vacated. Verizon has agreed to allow the county to keep the equipment in Attachment 1 - Bill of Sale.

If accepted, the equipment left will allow for future vendor use of the equipment and will help with operations at courthouse tower site.

STAFFING IMPACT:

Narrative Explanation of Staffing Impact:

No impact to staffing is expected.

OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:

Verizon Wireless

ALTERNATIVES TO STAFF RECOMMENDATIONS:

The Board of Supervisors may choose not to accept the donation or authorize the Bill of Sale. However, this alternative is not recommended because it will cause Verizon Wireless to remove all equipment and will not benefit the county for future vendor use of the tower site.
