Recommendation
That the Board of Supervisors:
1. Appoint Dr. Michael Mangahas and Leah Lamattina to the Humboldt County Children and Families Commission (First 5 Humboldt Commission); and
2. Reappoint Lorey Keele, Wendy Hill and Brian Davis to the Humboldt County Children and Families Commission (First 5 Humboldt Commission).

DISCUSSION:
The Humboldt County Board of Supervisors is the governing and appointing body for the Humboldt County Children and Families Commission, also known as First 5 Humboldt. This appointment is exempt from the Board protocol for at-large appointments as they are provided with appointment recommendations from the Executive Director of First 5 Humboldt. First 5 Humboldt’s Executive Director Mary Ann Hansen has provided the Board with a letter of support, dated March 5, 2025, requesting the appointment of the following: Dr. Michael Mangahas to fill the current vacancy on this commission and Leah Lamattina. Mary Ann Hansen has also requested the reappointment of the following: Lorey Keele (for one year as her membership will be termed out after one more year); Wendy Hill and Brian Davis for 3 years.

There is no financial impact to making this appointment. Appointments are volunteer positions.
