RECOMMENDATION(S):
Recommendation
That the Board of Supervisors:
1. Approve, and authorize the Chair of the Board to execute, the attached first amendment to the lease agreement with the Redwood Gun Club regarding the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office use of the Gunnery Range located in Manila California; and
2. Direct the Clerk of the Board to provide the Real Property Division of the Department of Public Works with one (1) fully executed original copy of the attached first amendment to the lease agreement with Redwood Gun Club.

DISCUSSION:
On July 23, 2024, the County of Humboldt entered into a lease agreement with the Redwood Gun Club regarding the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office use of the gunnery range located off Young Lane in Manila, California.
The attached first amendment to the lease agreement with the Redwood Gun Club will allow the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office to lease storage space within the Redwood Gun Club’s Conex box, located within the premises, to store range and/or training equipment. The lease of this storage space will be Twenty Dollars ($20.00) per month for the period of December 17, 2024 through June 30, 2025.
Accordingly, staff recommend that the Board approve, and authorize the Chair of the Board to execute, the attached first amendment to the lease agreement with the Redwood Gun Club regarding the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office use of the Gunnery Range located in Manila California.

As stated above, the attached first amendment to the lease agreement with the Redwood Gun Club will allow the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office additional storage space within the premises, at the monthly rate of Twenty Dollars ($20.00) per month for the period of December 17, 2024 through June 30, 2025. Expenditure appropriations related to the attached first amendment to the lease agreement with Redwood Gun Club have been included in the adopted fiscal year 2024-25 budget for budget unit 1100-221.
STAFFING IMPACT:
The attached first amendment to the lease agreement with the Redwood Gun Club will not impact current staffing levels.
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
None.
ALTERNATIVES TO STAFF RECOMMENDATIONS:
The Board may choose not to approve the attached first amendment to the lease agreement with the Redwood Gun Club regarding the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office use of the Gunnery Range located in Manila California. However, this alternative is not recommended as the Sheriff’s Office needs space to store equipment for the required trainings that have been agreed upon in the Lease Agreement with the Redwood Gun Club.
