DISCUSSION:

On Nov. 3, 2020, the Board of Supervisors adopted Ordinance No. 2658 which set forth a procedure in which the California Vehicle Code may be enforced on non-county maintained roads. Pursuant to County Code Section 423-1, Board of Supervisors may adopt a Resolution declaring that the California Vehicle Code may be enforced on a non-county maintained road. The Department of Public Works is in receipt of petition requesting that the Board of Supervisors adopt a Resolution that would allow the enforcement of the California Vehicle Code on Boy Scout Camp Road in the Myers Flat area.  A petition signed by 28 residents representing 25 addresses along Boy Scout Camp Road are in support of having the California Vehicle Code enforced on said road. The petition and resolution are being presented to the Board of Supervisors for consideration. This is the first petition and resolution that is being considered by the Board of Supervisors.

ALTERNATIVES TO STAFF RECOMMENDATIONS:

Your Board could decide to not approve the attached resolution. However, this is not recommended as the California Vehicle Code would not be enforceable on Boy Scout Camp Road.
