RECOMMENDATION(S):
Recommendation
That the Board of Supervisors:
1. Authorize Public Works to proceed with demolition of the Garberville Veterans Memorial Hall per the attached project scope of work outline; and
2. Approve the attached supplemental budget for Fiscal Year (FY) 2021-22.

DISCUSSION:
On Jun. 29, 2021, your Board directed Public Works to proceed with demolition of the existing Garberville Veterans Memorial Hall, followed by design and construction of a completely new, but smaller facility. Public Works has prepared the attached scope of work outline covering abatement of hazardous materials, salvage and storage of valuable building components, and demolition of the building. The estimate for this scope of work is $251,845. The entire process including preparation of construction documents, bidding, salvage, and demolition is expected to take six (6) to nine (9) months from approval, pending staff availability and assuming no significant delays in procurement.
Public Works will return to your Board at a later date with a scope of work and supplemental budget request covering the design and construction of the new facility. The total cost of the construction project is anticipated to be $3,087,325, inclusive of this supplemental budget request.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
Approval of this supplemental budget for the demolition portion of the project is anticipated to cost the General Fund $251,845 in FY 2021-22.
