RECOMMENDATION(S):

Recommendation

That the Board of Supervisors:

1.                     Approve, and authorize the Chair of the Board, to execute the attached fifth amendment to lease agreement with McKinleyville Community Services District regarding use of the real property located at 1606 Pickett Road, McKinleyville, California for the period of May 24, 2016 through June 30, 2026; and

2.                     Direct the Clerk of the Board to return one (1) fully executed original copy of the attached fifth amendment to the lease with McKinleyville Community Services District dated May 24, 2026 to the Department of Public Works - Real Property for further processing.

DISCUSSION:

On May 24, 2016, the County of Humboldt entered into a lease agreement with the McKinleyville Community Services District regarding use of the real property located at 1606 Pickett Road, McKinleyville, California as a public library for the benefit to the McKinleyville community until May 31, 2021.  The Lease agreement with the McKinleyville Community Services District was subsequently amended to extend the term thereof on February 23, 2021, February 15, 2022, May 23, 2023 and April 9, 2024.

 

The attached fifth amendment to the lease agreement with the McKinleyville Community Services District will allow for the continued use of the real property located at 1606 Pickett Road, McKinleyville, California as a public library until June 30, 2026.  Extension of the lease agreement with the McKinleyville Community Services District will allow time to ensure the premises is in compliance with all American with Disability Act accessibility requirements.

 

Accordingly, staff recommends that the Board approve, and authorize the Chair of the Board to execute, the attached fifth amendment to the lease agreement with the McKinleyville Community Services District regarding use of the real property located at 1606 Pickett Road, McKinleyville, California.

 

SOURCE OF FUNDING

None

 

FINANCIAL IMPACT:

There are no direct costs associated with the attached fifth amendment to the lease agreement with the McKinleyville Community Services District dated May 24, 2016.  As a result, the recommended actions will not impact the Humboldt County General Fund.

 

STAFFING IMPACT:

Approval of the attached fifth amendment to the lease agreement with the McKinleyville Community Services District dated May 24, 2016 will not impact current staffing levels.

 

OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:

None

 

ALTERNATIVES TO STAFF RECOMMENDATIONS:

The Board may choose to not approve the attached fifth amendment to the lease with the McKinleyville Community Services District regarding use of the real property located at 1606 Pickett Road, McKinleyville, California for the period of May 24, 2016 through June 30, 2026.  However, this alternative is not recommended as the lease would go into a month-to-month tenancy holdover period after June 30, 2025.
