RECOMMENDATION(S):
Recommendation
That the Board of Supervisors:
1. Authorize the Department of Health and Human Services - Behavioral Health Director or a designee thereof, to accept Cal Poly Humboldt’s donation of $5,000 for the purpose of supporting the hosting of Cal Poly Humboldt interns; and
2. Direct the Clerk of the Board to provide the Department of Health and Human Services - Behavioral Health with one fully executed, certified copy of the Board order related to this item.

DISCUSSION:
Cal Poly Humboldt has been supporting workforce needs by connecting interns with Behavioral Health programs including, but not limited to, clinic services, Bridges to Wellness, Children’s Mobile Response Team services and adult behavioral health services.
Cal Poly Humboldt has offered to donate $5,000 to the Humboldt County Department of Health and Human Services - Behavioral Health for the purpose of supporting the interns with Behavioral Health.
It is the desire of Cal Poly Humboldt for the $5,000 to be used to support internship opportunities at the Department of Health and Human Services - Behavioral Health. Cal Poly has requested the funds support Behavioral Health Programs and that the funds are not used to support Administration.
SOURCE OF FUNDING:
Behavioral Health Fund (1170-424)
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
Acceptance of this one-time donation from Cal Poly Humboldt will allow DHHS- Behavioral Health 1170-424 to be reimbursed in the amount of $5,000 for fiscal year 2025-26.
STAFFING IMPACT:
Acceptance of the donation from Cal Poly Humboldt will not impact current staffing levels.
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
None.
ALTERNATIVES TO STAFF RECOMMENDATIONS:
The Board may not choose to accept Cal Poly Humboldt’s donation of $5,000 for the purpose of supporting Behavioral Health Interns. However, this alternative is not recommended since it would not allow DHHS - Behavioral health to obtain funding that would be used in support of providing internships.
