STRATEGIC PLAN:
The recommended actions support the following areas of the Board of Supervisors’ Strategic Plan:
Area of Focus: Safe & Healthy Communities
Strategic Plan Category: 1009 - Expand county infrastructure resilience
DISCUSSION:
The Blue Lake Rancheria Tribal Police Department has an aging patrol vehicle that is in need of replacement. The County of Humboldt has a 2017 Ford Inceptor patrol vehicle and upfitting equipment installed therein (Equipment No. 07208, Fixed Asset No. FA0000026177) that has been replaced and is fully depreciated. The Humboldt County Department of Public Works (“Public Works”) wishes to direct sale the vehicle to the Blue Lake Rancheria Tribal Police Department for the purchase price of One Thousand Six Hundred Dollars ($1,600) in lieu of selling the vehicle at auction.
SOURCE OF FUNDING:
Public Works Motor Pool Reserve Fund (3500-351)
General Fund - Sheriff Operations Fund (1100-221)
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
Revenue from the sale of the surplus vehicle will be deposited in the Motor Pool budget (3500-351) and used to offset the purchase of replacement vehicles. Revenue of the surplus equipment will be deposited in the Sheriff Operations budget (1100-221). The purchase price of One Thousand Six Hundred Dollars ($1,600) will cover the salvage value of the vehicle and the upfitting equipment installed therein.
STAFFING IMPACT:
The recommended actions will not impact current staffing levels.
OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
None
ALTERNATIVES TO STAFF RECOMMENDATIONS:
The Board may choose not to approve the sale of the 2017 Ford Inceptor patrol vehicle and upfitting equipment installed therein (Equipment No. 07208, Fixed Asset No. FA0000026177) to the Blue Lake Rancheria Tribal Police Department. However, this alternative is not recommended as it would result in the vehicle being sold at a surplus auction which would not help the Blue Lake Rancheria Tribal Police Department maintain public safety.
