Strategic Plan Category: 3003 - Enhance employee recruitment and retention
DISCUSSION:
Human Resources applied and received funding from the Humboldt Health Foundation: Proactive Grants, a supporting organization of the Humboldt Area Foundation + Wild Rivers Community Foundation. The grant funding is to be used for the Learning Corner: Healthcare in Humboldt, which is a community event seeking to explore the effects of healthcare availability on employee recruitment and retention across local organizations, explore its limiting effect on regional prosperity, and disparate impact on marginalized populations in Humboldt County.
In the face of growing healthcare challenges, Humboldt County is coming together to engage in an open conversation regarding critical issues affecting healthcare quality and access. As part of a series, this second installment will explore the wider community impacts of provider recruitment and retention challenges. This Learning Corner event seeks to create a space where diverse voices can be heard, a strong communication network between stakeholders can be created, and different perspectives can be shared with the hope that tangible actions can be developed to improve the local healthcare landscape.
The event format will feature two moderated panel discussions. Each panel will be comprised of subject-matter experts from diverse industries and the discussions will be grounded in data. Participants will include healthcare professionals, human resource representatives, local business, academics, and members of the community.
