On June 23, 2020, the County of Humboldt received four (4) bids for the project, which are attached hereto as Attachment 1.
The Department of Public Works recommends that the Board of Supervisors receive and file the bid proposals submitted for the Alderpoint Road (6B165) Post Miles 41.45, 43.55, 46.15 and 46.23 Storm Damage Repair Project. It is also recommended that the attached project agreement be awarded to Van Meter Logging, Inc., for the total amount of Two Hundred Ninety-Five Thousand Nine Hundred Eighty-Six Dollars ($295,986) and that the Chair of the Board be authorized to execute the attached project agreement with Van Meter Logging, Inc., upon submittal of the appropriate bonds and insurance.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The Alderpoint Road (6B165) Post Miles 41.45, 43.55, 46.15 and 46.23 Storm Damage Repair Project is being funded by Federal Highway Administration Emergency Relief Funds (88.53%) and the Humboldt County Road Fund (11.47%). The engineer’s cost estimate for the project is Three Hundred Sixty-Two Thousand Two Hundred Ninety Dollars ($362,290). The total project cost is estimated at Three Hundred Seventy Thousand Dollars ($370,000). The Humboldt County Road Fund will be responsible for Forty-Two Thousand Four Hundred Thirty-Nine Dollars ($42,439) of the total costs associated with the Alderpoint Road (6B165) Post Miles 41.45, 43.55, 46.15 and 46.23 Storm Damage Repair Project.

OTHER AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:
California Department of Transportation, Federal Highway Administration
ALTERNATIVES TO STAFF RECOMMENDATIONS:
The Board of Supervisors may choose not to award the Alderpoint Road (6B165) Post Miles 41.45, 43.55, 46.15 and 46.23 Storm Damage Repair Project to Van Meter Logging, Inc. However, this alternative is not recommended because the project will restore the roadway, embankment and crash cushions to pre-disaster conditions using funds that would not otherwise be available to the County of Humboldt.
