DISCUSSION:

The Clerk of the Board is notifying the Board of Supervisors of an at-large vacancy on Humboldt County’s Countywide Redevelopment Oversight Board.

In September 2015, the State of California approved Senate Bill No. 107, which guided the final technical steps for dissolving local redevelopment agencies. The legislation required counties with more than one redevelopment oversight board to consolidate them into a single countywide oversight board, staffed by the Auditor--Controller. Accordingly, Humboldt County’s three oversight boards were consolidated in 2018.

The Countywide Redevelopment Oversight Board is composed of seven members and has the authority to oversee and direct the successor agencies to wind down activities and expeditiously liquidate the assets of the former redevelopment agencies.

Pursuant to California Health and Safety Code Section 341790(i), the Board of Supervisors is responsible for appointing one at-large member to the Countywide Redevelopment Oversight Board. The oversight board meets one or two times annually for approximately an hour.

The last appointment made to this oversight board was in August 2018.

Applications to serve on the Countywide Redevelopment Oversight Board are available at COB@co.humboldt.ca.us <mailto:COB@co.humboldt.ca.us> and will be presented to the Board of Supervisors at its Nov. 17 meeting for consideration to appoint.

In the future, for efficiency purposes, this appointment will be included in the Annual List of Appointments that the Board of Supervisors reviews at the end of each calendar year when making appointments to various boards, committees and commissions.
