RECOMMENDATION(S):
Recommendation
That the Board of Supervisors:
1. Approve, and authorize the Humboldt County Purchasing Agent, or a designee thereof, to execute, the attached quote regarding the renewal of Crowdstrike Falcon Complete Anti-Virus and Endpoint Security Protection Licenses; and
2. Authorize the Humboldt County Purchasing Agent, or a designee thereof, to execute future Crowdstrike Falcon Complete Anti-Virus and Endpoint Security Protection Licensing renewals, after review and approval by County Counsel and Risk Management; and
3. Direct the Clerk of the Board to provide the Information Technology Division of the County Administrative Office with one (1) fully executed certified copy of the Board order related to this item.

DISCUSSION:
In June 2019 the Information Technology Division of the County Administrative Office began the process of moving its Anti-virus software licensing to Falcon Endpoint Protection Premium. On July 13, 2021, the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors (“Board”) approved a supplemental budget request to purchase the upgraded Crowdstrike Falcon Complete Anti-Virus and Endpoint Security Protection licensing for two thousand seven hundred (2,700) countywide devices.
The Crowdstrike Falcon Complete Anti-Virus and Endpoint Security Protection provides robust endpoint security, monitoring, and increases cyber security protections for all departments as required by Section 2.7 of the Humboldt County Information Security Charter.
Currently before the Board is the renewal for the period of September 1, 2023, through August 31, 2024 in the amount of Two Hundred Twenty-Four Thousand Seven Hundred Eighty-One Dollars ($224,781.00).

The total purchase amount of the Crowdstrike Falcon Complete Anti-Virus and Endpoint Security Protection is Two Hundred Twenty-Four Thousand Seven Hundred Eighty-One Dollars ($224,781.00) September 1, 2023, through August 31, 2024. Funding for this software has been included in the adopted fiscal year 2023-24 budget for Information Technology budget unit 3550-118.
STRATEGIC FRAMEWORK:
The recommended actions support the Board of Supervisors’ Strategic Framework by providing for and maintaining technological infrastructure.

None
ALTERNATIVES TO STAFF RECOMMENDATIONS:
The Board may choose not to approve the purchase of Crowdstrike Falcon Complete Anti-Virus and Endpoint Security Protection. However, this alternative is not recommended as it would remove vital endpoint protection of County devices.
