DISCUSSION:

On July 7, 2026, the Board of Supervisors adopted the Drug-Free Workplace and Reasonable Suspicion Testing Policy. Following adoption, Human Resources identified revisions that should be incorporated into the final policy to reflect language previously agreed upon between the county and several bargaining groups. The revised policy also includes language providing departments with additional flexibility to forego pre-employment drug testing in certain circumstances. Accordingly, Human Resources recommends that the Board adopt the revised Drug-Free Workplace and Reasonable Suspicion Testing Policy to ensure the adopted policy reflects the most current and complete language.
